You’ve probably already decided on your Halloween attire by this point. (Wait, is it just us? You might want to reconsider your approach now that the Village Halloween Parade has revealed the costume theme for this year’s procession.

The parade, now in its 43rd year, requires marchers to wear costumes, and those costumes must be based on the concept of “Reverie.” Get it? If not, the kind people who organized the march have the following statement:

“While Halloween is often thought of as a time for fantasy, it actually serves as a catalyst for realization and self-expression, freeing the rest of the year for sleepwalking. We are hoping that people would design Halloween costumes that simultaneously express and nourish their spirit. Therefore, we are celebrating Reverie this year and inviting everyone to recreate their waking dreams.

The spooky march happens every year on Halloween, which this year comes on a Monday (October 31). Before the event officially begins at 7 o’clock, costumed marchers should line up at Sixth Avenue and Canal St. at 6:30 o’clock.

Be sure to dress in your dreamiest outfit and head out to this completely free extravaganza, which will feature thousands of New Yorkers, hundreds of puppets, 53 bands performing a variety of music, dancers, and more!
