Make Lip Balms At Home: Top 5 DIYs (Additional Bonus Idea)

Make Lip Balms At Home

Soft and moist lips are all we want, right? Especially when it’s winter and our lips are getting drier and drier every minute. Maybe we don’t drink enough water every day which is causing dehydration, and ultimately, dry lips. Or maybe we’re not taking care of them physically like applying a lip balm regularly to keep them lush and smooth. I’d say that you should drink more and more water every day, about 8-10 glasses, so there’s no chance of dry lips caused by dehydration. But this doesn’t mean that you should miss lip balms because they are extremely important to give your lips the moisture that they need every time.

We all love DIYs, don’t we? Everything that we make, no matter how ineffective it is, fascinates us to the max because we know that we made it. But the DIYs I’m going to tell you today won’t only fascinate you but also be very beneficial for your lips. Yes, we’re gonna make DIY lip balms! I can tell you about the 5 most effective DIY lip balms that you can make very easily at home and save a few bucks!

  • Mint Chocolate Lip Balm

Chocolates! Mmm, delicious… How about a mint chocolate lip balm, peeps? Let’s gather the ingredients first. What we’re gonna need for this DIY would be:

  • 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder
  • 2 of white beeswax pellets
  • 2 of almond oil (sweet)
  • Some peppermint (only a few drops)

Melt the beeswax pellets on either a stove or an oven. The stove would be better because you’re gonna have to stir the other ingredients while the beeswax is being melted. Add the cocoa powder, almond oil, and the drops of peppermint. Once you’ve stirred it up well, store it in a small container, and let it cool down. Your delicious lip balm is ready. Use it whenever you’d like.

  • Essential Oil Lip Balm

You’ll be in love with this one if you have a favorite essential oil. You need to gather:

  • A teaspoon of beetroot powder
  • Your likable essential oil (a few drops)
  • Beeswax or Soy wax
  • Cocoa butter or mango (¼ cup)

Melt the wax (whichever it is) on the stove and then add the cocoa butter or mango to it. Blend it up properly. Then add a few drops of the essential oil of your choice. You can add beetroot powder for some color but you have to stir it a lot in a proper way to get rid of all the lumps in the mixture. Let it cool down a little and then pour it into a small container to be used as your DIY lip balm.

  • Honey and Hemp Lip Balm

Looks like all you’re going to need is some honey and some hemp oil but that’s not the case. You’re also gonna need:

  • 4 teaspoons of almond oil
  • Beeswax (10g)
  • Shea Butter (15g)
  • Cocoa Butter (10g)

Melt the beeswax and shea butter in a boiler and then add the cocoa butter to it as well. After that, add the rest of the ingredients and keep stirring until it feels like a liquid and not a paste. Use a frother to blend the mixture better. Your lip balm is ready to be contained in a container.

  • Lime Lip Balm

For this DIY, you’re gonna need lime essential oil (a few drops of it) as your main ingredient. But don’t forget the rest of them like:

  • A tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of almond oil
  • That of cocoa butter
  • That of beeswax

This one has a little different procedure from the rest of the DIYs. You don’t add the lime while the mixture is on the stove. Rather you have to add it after removing the mixture from the heat and then stir it. The mixture of almond oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and beeswax is to be boiled on medium heat. Once you’ve removed the mixture from the stove and added lime essential oil to it, stir it well and your lip balm is ready. Now just add this mixture to little containers or jars to make it useable.

  • Rose Lip Balm

I love the resulting color of it because it’s rose-red when it’s ready. And yes, when you apply it to your lips, they will catch the red rose’s color and look stunningly beautiful. For this DIY, you’ll need:

  • 1 tablespoon of Beeswax
  • 3 of rose-infused oil
  • ½ of castor oil
  • 1 of cocoa butter
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ¼ of alkanet root powder

Add everything except vanilla extract and the root powder of alkanet to a boiler and get the mixture ready. After that, add vanilla extract for a nice fragrance and the root powder for the coloring. Your lip balm mixture is ready. Let it cool down and then pour it into a lip balm container that you plan to use for it. Keep it in the fridge for a while so it sets well.

The Bonus Idea

Now that you’ve learned 5 different DIY ways to make lip balms at home using easily available natural products, how about you think of starting your own business? People these days love naturally made items more, especially cosmetics. So instead of selling people artificially made lip balms having chemicals in them, it’s best that you sell them the natural ones. You can price them a bit different than the normal lip balms. Usually, the chemically made cosmetics are cheaper than the naturally made ones so you can adjust your price according to that. But remember to not make earning large profits your main goal right now because you have to earn your customers’ trust and build relationships with them first.

To make sure that people buy your lip balms, you must work on your marketing and the way you present the products. You can get high-quality lip balm packaging boxes for a professional look and impact and to save your lip balms from getting deteriorated or damaged. You can get these lip balm packaging boxes from Dawn Printing very conveniently at low prices but you’ll be more than happy with the quality and results. If I were you, I would definitely want to start my own business because it’s super easy and very cheap to make these DIY lip balms. And yes, people would actually want to pay to get these.
