The New York Festivals Television & Film Awards acknowledge content producers whose intriguing shows appeal to viewers throughout the world and highlight unique storytelling from all around the world. The 65-year history of the contest offers a showcase of outstanding work in all entertainment media disciplines.

New York Festivals has modified numerous categories for 2023 in order to reflect the industry’s dynamic nature.

Documentary categories honour thorough storytelling with a unique perspective. Best Nonfiction Series and Investigative Journalism are two brand-new categories for documentaries.

Best Breaking News Coverage, Best Continuing News Coverage, and Best Investigative News Coverage are among the categories for News Programs in 2023. Breaking News Story Coverage, Continuing News Story Coverage, Financial News Report, Heroes Feature, Human Interest Feature, Investigative Report, and Legal News Report are just a few of the news reports and features available.

The following programmes won the New York Festivals TV & Film Grand Awards for 2022: “Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special” Variety Special (Done+Dusted for Apple TV), “Old People’s Home For 4 Year Olds S2” Social Issues Documentary (Endemol Shine Australia for ABC), and “The National Lottery’s Big Night of Musicals” Performing Arts Special (TBI Media for BBC One).

CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus received the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award. Greg Gumbel, the anchor of CBS Sports, presented the gift to Mr. McManus.

The WaterBear Award, created in collaboration with WaterBear Network and new for the 2022 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, honours the best documentary in the areas of climate change & sustainability, environment & ecology, and nature & wildlife. The Terra Mater Factual Studios, Skyland Productions, Into Nature Productions, DOCLIGHTS, NDR NATURFILM, The WNET GROUP, in cooperation with PBS and CPB, “Hippo King” production received the inaugural WaterBear Award from NYF and WaterBear Network.

Al Jazeera English Qatar received the coveted title of Broadcaster of the Year for the sixth consecutive year for its coverage of global challenges and varied topics. The Production Company of the Year Award for 2022 was won by Done+Dusted.

The 2022 NYF TV & Film Award winners were recognised on April 26 during the NAB Show in Las Vegas in a virtual ceremony because of ongoing global pandemic quarantine measures. Highlights and acceptances from winning teams of men and women filming from their hometowns in more than 40 nations across the world were featured in the two-part virtual Storytellers Gala ceremony led by Rose Anderson, VP & Executive Director, New York Festivals TV & Film Awards.

The annual NAB Show in Las Vegas will host the 2023 TV & Film Awards Storytellers Gala on April 18, 2023. The strategic cooperation between NYF and NAB Show is in its thirteenth year. The multi-day event, which is the biggest international meeting for the media and entertainment business, is open to all NYF TV & Film Award winners.

All submissions for the 2023 competition will be reviewed online and screened by the 200+ producer, director, writer, and other creative media professionals on the NYF TV & Film Awards Grand Jury. The TV & Film Awards winners gallery will feature winning submissions.
