Brian O’Conner runs away from the police and starts competing in street races across the South West in this short film that serves as a bridge between The Fast and the Furious and The Fast and the Furious 2.
The Fast and the Furious sequel, Turbo-Charged Prelude, is a six-minute short film directed by Phillip Atwell. Paul Walker, reprising his role as Brian O’Conner, Minka Kelly as “The Girl,” and Rodney Neil are also featured in Turbo-Charged Prelude. The movie, which is a precursor to 2 Fast 2 Furious and is distributed by Universal Pictures, was made available on DVD on June 3, 2003, as part of the “Tricked Out Edition” of The Fast and the Furious.
Turbo-Charged Prelude
A man on the run is Brian O’Conner. Dominic Toretto leaves the LAPD and leaves Los Angeles after he helped him avoid being arrested. To avoid being arrested, he goes across the entire country to Miami, Florida.
A Brief Summary of Turbo-Charged Prelude
Brian is in his bathroom at home, standing in front of the mirror. He remembers what transpired before he gave Dominic Toretto the keys to his 1994 Toyota Supra MK IV and permitted him to flee. In a duffle bag, Brian places a few personal items before leaving his home. After becoming aware of Brian’s conduct, the LAPD mobilizes to make an arrest. When they get to his house, they surround it. When the cops break into the residence, they discover no trace of Brian. His police badge is the only thing that is still present.
To track down and capture Brian, a nationwide manhunt is started. He drives his red 1991 Dodge Stealth across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, winning every street race he enters. He finds out that the FBI is still looking for him when he stops at a diner. He almost gets caught by the police when they come into the diner, but they decide to leave without realizing he had attracted the attention of the girl seated across from them.
While taking a break in a motel, Brian keeps track of the ongoing efforts to bring him in. When he learns the cops have located his Dodge, he is obliged to leave the motel and give up the Dodge. The girl bumps into Brian again and acts as though she doesn’t recognise him. He keeps walking away while dodging her. Brian makes an attempt to hitchhike a little ways down the road. The female who saw him earlier at the diner picks him up.
She abandons him at a used car lot. Until he notices the newspaper lying in the car where he was sitting, he is unaware that she is aware of who he is. Nothing is said before the girl leaves. Brian purchases a 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 from the showroom. While driving, Brian gradually customizes the Nissan to his preferences while earning money from winning street races.
When he gets back on the road, other motorbike riders challenge him to a race. Brian enables them to anticipate his participation and helps them to get ahead of him. The law enforcement officers stop the motorbike riders, but Brian keeps going. Brian decides to head to Miami instead of New York while on the beltway. When Brian arrives, he notices two vehicles passing through an intersection nearby: a 1994 Mazda RX-7 and a 1993 Toyota Supra Turbo MKIV. With “2 Be Continued…”, the movie closes.
Production (Turbo-Charged Prelude)
Exclusive to the “Tricked Out Edition” DVD of The Fast and the Furious, Turbo-Charged Prelude was filmed. The producer and director intended to use a Mitsubishi 3000GT as Brian O’Conner’s vehicle during the film’s filming. The alternative was a 1991 Dodge Stealth. A free ticket for 2 Fast 2 Furious came with the “Tricked Out Edition” DVD when it was released. Later, Turbo-Charged Prelude was added to the 2 Fast 2 Furious DVD.
