From Akshey Kumar, Virat Kholi ,SRK to Yogi Adityanath to Congress Leaders Lost Twitter Blue Tick
Twitter’s historical verified blue ticks were deleted from all accounts on Thursday.
Individual Twitter users who have verified blue checkmarks are those who pay for Twitter Blue, which costs USD 8 per month via the web and USD 11 per month via in-app payment on iOS and Android.
Several Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and politicians such as CM Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, as well as cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have lost their verified blue ticks from their Twitter accounts as a result of the recent development.
Variety reports that the microblogging site will remove the verified check-mark status of accounts that were verified as notable before to Elon Musk’s takeover unless they have subscribed to Twitter Blue or the business-focused Twitter Verified Organizations plan.
Initially, the blue tick was used to safeguard well-known people against impersonation and to combat incorrect information.
“On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks,” Twitter said via their official account earlier in March. Individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue to keep their blue checkmark on Twitter.
The blue check mark system was first implemented on Twitter in 2009 to assist users in determining whether celebrities, politicians, firms and brands, news organizations, and other accounts “of public interest” were authentic and not imposters or parody accounts. Previously, the company did not charge for verification.
Within two weeks of the company’s acquisition last year, Musk unveiled Twitter Blue with the check-mark emblem as one of the premium bonuses.
