6 Pilgrims, Pilot Killed In Helicopter Crash Near Kedarnath
The helicopter crashed right after the takeoff from Kedarnath. A total of seven people, including a pilot, were onboard the chopper, sources say.
Kedarnath: A helicopter transporting pilgrims crashed today at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand, killing six persons, including the pilot.
According to officials, the chopper crashed close to Garu Chatti, and six dead have already been found.
They reported that a rescue effort was under way.
“केदारनाथ के समीप गरुड़ चट्टी में दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण हेलीकॉप्टर क्रैश में कुछ लोगों के हताहत होने का अत्यंत दु:खद समाचार प्राप्त हुआ है। राहत और बचाव कार्य हेतु SDRF और जिला प्रशासन की टीम घटनास्थल पर पहुंच चुकी है। इस दु:खद घटना के विस्तृत जांच के आदेश दे दिए गए है।”
Just after leaving Kedarnath, the chopper crashed. Seven persons in total, including the pilot, were aboard the helicopter, according to sources.
According to reports, the incident was caused by severe weather and limited sight. They added that more information is being gathered.
A huge plume of smoke was visible from the location.
Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, expressed his sorrow over the event and stated the issue is being closely watched.
