Through this partnership, Zespri Kiwifruit will donate money to support national programming as well as provide products for Brighter Bites’ programming in New York City, Washington, DC, as well as South and Central California. It will also provide kiwi nutrition information, recipes, and coupons throughout the upcoming school year. The two organizations will also hold a Kiwi Art Challenge where students can take part and compete for prizes.
According to Brighter Bites CEO Rich Dachman, “our partnership with Zespri Kiwifruit allows us to offer our families not only more scrumptious fruit selections in their produce boxes, but also a fun, interactive challenge to engage and promote participation.” Our aim is perfectly aligned with this creative activity, and we are looking forward to seeing all the original artwork produced by the youngsters and their families.
In addition, Zespri Kiwifruit will be a featured donor for Brighter Bites’ 10th anniversary celebration, which will honor the nonprofit organization in recognition of its efforts to deliver fresh fruits and vegetables to communities across the nation.
According to Jeanne Wilson, head of marketing for Zespri Kiwifruit in North America, “our purpose is to help people, communities, and the environment thrive around the world through the goodness of kiwifruit. Being able to support underserved families with our tasty and nutritious Zespri SunGold kiwi and encourage healthier habits is a great demonstration of this.” “We look forward to celebrating Brighter Bites’ anniversary and reflecting on the constructive change they’ve helped drive over the previous 10 years. We couldn’t be more honored to join the mission of the organization.”
Since 2012, Brighter Bites has expanded to provide over 50 million pounds of fresh produce to families and students in food deserts throughout nine major metropolitan areas. The group will be able to continue serving marginalized communities and broaden its programming across the nation thanks to its collaboration with Zespri Kiwifruit.
