After what happened on Wednesday in his exclusive garage, Florida Man Ernie is in a bad way.

The $1 million McLaren P1 vehicle that gained notoriety after being submerged in Hurricane Ian’s floodwaters belongs to Ernie. We’re talking about a stunning yellow McLaren with only 300 miles on the odometer, which is unlike any car 99.9% of Americans have ever seen.

Ernie’s “storm supply car,” as he referred to it in happier times, washed straight out of his garage beneath his Naples home when Ian then arrived.

As it became clear that his new kid would not survive, Ernie posted on Instagram, “Car went through the garage.”

From all Ernie has revealed in the past few weeks since acquiring the stunning vehicle, it is clear that he had lofty goals for the vehicle and its enormous doors. Before a major storm surge, which caused 20-foot waves to damage the Naples pier, drastically altered life in this affluent neighbourhood, there were going to be lovely Saturday morning rides in the McLaren, just taking in everything Naples, Florida had to offer.

Ernie should be fine, it seems. More 217 mph supercars can take the place of the existing vehicles. The Rolls substitute will be equally good.

But based on what Ernie revealed on Wednesday, it’s obvious that for a man who had to watch his gorgeous car float around in his garage while using Costco giant packs of Bounty paper towels, life may never be the same again.

How rare are these McLaren P1s?

AutoEvolution.com reports that only 375 of these 903 horsepower V8 automobiles were produced. The website also claims that since delivery began, the value of these cars has increased by a factor of two to three. The vehicle has a top speed of 217 mph and can accelerate to 62 mph from a stop in 2.8 seconds.
