What is the Rice Purity Test? What does my Score Mean?

Rice Purity Test

A person’s level of innocence toward worldly vices is determined by answering 100 questions in the Rice Purity Test; a score of 100 indicates that the respondent is the most innocent, while a score of 0 indicates the least innocent. It features entertaining questions on interpersonal interactions, actions, and behaviours deemed impure. An individual must just choose “Yes” or “No” for each question to respond to the questions.

The survey was first conducted in 1924 at Rice University in Houston, Texas, to assess students’ maturity and promote socialisation. The Rice Purity Test has undergone a number of improvements to achieve its current state. It has long ago established a presence online and is a well-liked means of amusing oneself with pals.

You and your friends are in the eighth grade and having a sleepover. You all made the decision to stay up late, and after a challenging round of truth or dare, one of your friends suggests that you all take the Rice Purity Test and compare the results to see who among your friends has accomplished the most “stuff” (what on earth did we mean when we used to say this?). You innocently inquire as your companion launches an incognito tab in Safari on her iPod touch, “What’s the Rice Purity Test?” Your pals tell you what it is, and after you all take the test and compare your results, you spend the rest of the sleepover feeling inferior to your friends (I’ll be honest: I even lied about my answers the first time I took the test in an effort to appear more sophisticated and badass).

I last took the Rice Purity Test in my junior year of high school, months before I had my first kiss and years before I had become a woman. My score was probably in the 90s, which I recall finding extremely embarrassed in comparison to my friends’ results, which were all significantly lower. In hindsight, the majority of my pals definitely lied about the majority of their responses in an effort to appear cool. I’m not embarrassed to publish my score of 52 as a junior in college. It’s not unexpected that folks are retaking the Rice Purity Test now that we’re all cooped up inside because of COVID-19 to see how much their results have changed over time. Permit me to describe the history and purpose of the Rice Purity Test for people who did not go through middle school in the same way as me.

What does my score mean?

The Rice Purity Test is a set of 100 questions that takes the form of a self-graded survey and aims to gauge a person’s level of innocence by posing inquiries about drugs, alcohol, sex, the law, and other types of impure behaviour. Have you ever engaged in oral sex, been in a relationship, fled from the police, etc. are a few examples of queries. When taking the test, the most benign questions are asked first (such, “Have you ever held hands romantically?”), and subsequently the nastiest ones (such as have you ever paid or been paid for a sexual act). Your results will be displayed as a percentage between 0 and 100, with 0 denoting the least purity and 100 denoting the most purity. The Rice Purity Test was designed to assess college students’ maturity so they could interact easily with upperclassmen.

Who created the Rice Purity Test?

The Rice Purity Test was developed by Rice University to evaluate students’ maturity and to enable them to forge connections with seniors based on their experiences. The first Rice Purity Test was developed in 1924 and was initially exclusively administered to females. Since then, further versions have been released with more recent questions. Nowadays, college students only take the Rice Purity Test for amusement and to compare their results to those of their classmates. A fun experiment would be to compare your new scores to your old scores at the beginning of your freshman year of college, the end of your senior year, or on your birthday every year to see how much you have grown as a person.

Where can I take the Rice Purity Test?

On the official Rice Purity Test website, www.ricepuritytest dot com, you can take the most popular version of the exam. The exam results are presented to you as a number between 1 and 100, and as I previously indicated, the higher your score, the more innocent you are thought to be.

The score is between 0 and 100 – the higher the score, the more ‘pure’ you are.
