For the fourth season of Mad TV in 1998, comedian and actor Michael McDonald joined the cast as a featured player before being promoted to full-time midway through the season. He should not be confused with the singer of the same name or any of the professional athletes. McDonald held the record for the longest cast tenure with ten seasons. He created a number of recurrent characters throughout his time on the programme, including Stuart as well as Rusty Miller, Fighting’ Ron, and Marvin Tikvah, among others.
