The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre will host ATE23 from April 30 to May 4, 2023, bringing together Australian tour operators and buyers from across the world to network and conduct business.

In 2022, ATE Live was held at the ICC Sydney from May 15–18 and welcomed about 550 buyers from abroad and 550 sellers from Australia. To link individuals who couldn’t attend the live event, ATE Online ran from May 24 to May 26.

The Gold Coast has been selected as the venue for the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), Australia’s flagship tourism conference, which will take place in Queensland in 2023.

The 43rd ATE will take place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 30 to May 5, 2023, according to Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe.

According to Mr. Hinchliffe, “this event will support local jobs and provide $9 million to the Gold Coast’s Economic Recovery Plan with potential long-term economic benefits ranging into the billions.”

“ATE brings together tourism providers and buyers of foreign travel in the nation’s favourite vacation spot next year.

“ATE, the primary trade familiarisation event for inbound international tourism, will bring together up to 1,500 tourism experts from Australia and around the globe on the Gold Coast.

“The Gold Coast is a fantastic location to remind foreign customers of Queensland’s top-notch tourism experiences, and we are aware that there is a lot of unmet demand for international travel.

“Travel buyers play a crucial role in the on-selling of tourism experiences to foreign travel agents who promote and package Queensland vacation itineraries for foreign tourists.

“Events like ATE on the Gold Coast are essential to bringing overseas visitors back to Queensland as we restore the State’s $6 billion-a-year international tourism economy,” the State government stated.

“ATE on the Gold Coast will assist our tourism businesses in creating and sustaining the buyer relationships that keep Queensland visitor destinations at the top of foreign tourists’ minds.”

Securing the event for the Gold Coast, according to CEO of Destination Gold Coast Patricia O’Callaghan, was a testament to the city’s modern infrastructure, connectivity, and experience offerings.

The delivery of ATE23 in the heart of Australia’s favourite playground, which combines the ideal offering for both business and leisure travellers, will be made possible by a partnership between Tourism Australia, Tourism and Events Queensland, and the City of Gold Coast, said Ms. O’Callaghan.

“Over the past two years, the Gold Coast has seen a dramatic makeover, with more than $1 billion in tourism investment in new attractions and experiences that our visitors have never experienced before, as well as 3,000 hotel rooms currently under construction or finished.

In addition to connecting the city with a network of worldwide buyers and sellers, ATE23 will “accelerate recovery for the Gold Coast’s tourism sector” and, more crucially, would “stimulate economic activity for our 10,000 tourism operators and small enterprises.”

Every Australian State actively seeks out the Australian Tourism Exchange, which was most recently held on the Gold Coast in 2016.
