Enrollment and Eligibility
International students at Indiana University, students in the Intensive English Program (IEP & PIE), and visiting scholars are all required to participate in this plan. You are automatically registered in the plan each semester as an international or intensive English student, and your bursar account will be charged the premium. Please get in touch with the office for international students on your campus for further details about enrolment. For details on registration and payment if you are a visiting scholar, get in touch with your department or the office for international students on campus.
Dependent Protection
As a qualified student, you have the choice to purchase supplementary coverage for your spouse and unmarried children under the age of 26. Only if and when you are insured under the plan will your dependents be eligible for coverage. The deadlines indicated in the tables below for enrolling dependents must be met.
There are two ways to enroll: online or on paper. No matter how you choose to enroll, Anthem needs to get your application and premium payment by the enrollment deadlines below. Dependent premiums may be paid all at once or in monthly installments; however, your bursar account cannot be debited for them.
Unless there has been a major life change known as an IRS-qualifying life event, you cannot enroll your dependents until the next coverage period if the enrollment deadline has passed (i.e., marriage, birth, loss of prior coverage). Enrollment will be backdated and start on the date of the qualifying event if it is made within 30 days of the event. You must wait until the following coverage period to enroll if your application is received more than 30 days after the qualifying occurrence. For further information, get in touch with the student insurance specialist at 812-856-4650 or [email protected].
