Dennis Allen: Saints’ Tackling Was Shoddy Again
The biggest issue, according to Saints coach Dennis Allen, in his team’s 42-34 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday Night Football was missed tackles.
Allen stated, “I think our tackling was sloppy again. We must address some of these problems. It is my duty to take care of these issues. We were unable to accomplish it.
Allen, who spent seven seasons as the Saints’ defensive coordinator before taking over as head coach this season, said the Cardinals’ advantage lay more in execution than in Xs and Os.
“That is tackling. It’s imperative that we improve our tackling. They had one play, a long, 45-yard run, that I thought was a nice plan play in comparison to what we had called up, Allen said. We need to improve in this area because we missed multiple tackles. Right now, it is insufficient. To be completely honest with you, it all begins with me. I need to improve. I have to work harder with those defensive players.
With the Saints now at 2-5, they have to get better in a hurry
