The USABO is a four-tiered set of tests that requires the very best in terms of academic and practical biology knowledge from students. The United States will be represented in the 34th International Biology Olympiad, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in July 2023, by the four gold medalists from the USABO National Finals.

Each year, 11,000 students sign up to take the national biology exams offered by USABO. The focus of CEE’s USABO programme is to foster young students’ intellectual curiosity and foster their critical thinking, laboratory abilities, and biological reasoning in order to prepare them for careers in science and technology leadership and excellence. The CEE offers the tools students need to research biological sciences and study for exams. Teachers can access a multitude of online biology materials, including suggested reading lists, study aids, sample questions, instructions, checklists, and previous exams, with the help of school registration.

“The thousands of students that take the tests are a unique group, and they all have similar interests. According to Kathy Frame, Advisor & Consultant, USA Biolympiad, “USABO unites students across the country who may come into contact with each other in their life at any moment and who already have a common interest.”

The USABO is open to all students in grades 9 through 12. To guarantee a position for the Open Exam, CEE urges teachers and schools to sign up and host their students. For exam success, AP courses are not necessary. No matter how many students attend, each school must pay a registration fee of $95 per participant.

USABO Clubs have been created at numerous schools across the country for students to join. The Centre plays a crucial role in coordination by providing information on how to establish and manage a USABO Club, study materials, and connections to USABO alumni. This new Centre endeavour is a part of a larger effort to present opportunities and make suggestions in collaboration with USABO Clubs across the country. Through the USABO website, students may connect with clubs all throughout the nation to exchange the latest concepts, techniques, and resources. Students can explore the biological sciences in a friendly and cooperative environment while getting ready for the USABO exams through USABO clubs.

Concerning the Centre for Excellence in Education

Admiral H.G. Rickover and Joann P. DiGennaro, the Center’s president, established the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity organisation, in 1983. The Center’s goal is to develop high school and university students into leaders in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and to promote communication among prominent scientists and technologists around the world. The Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP), the Research Science Institute (RSI), the USA Biolympiad (USABO), and STEM Lyceums are all sponsored by CEE. The CEE programmes are free for teachers and students who participate in them. The Center has close relationships with businesses, organisations, government agencies, and private foundations.
